Oh the geek in me really wants this! Well, in reality, everything on this blog is something I want (otherwise why write about it?). Live long and prosper!
This clever
Star Trek Transporter Room Bath Mat & Shower Curtain Set (from ThinkGeek) is sure to please any Trekkie or Trekker.
The curtain, 72" x 72", shows an image of the transporter room from Star Trek, The Original Series, and the bath mat, 26" in diameter, picks up again on the pad where people stand to be beamed away or back on board the Enterprise.
You can "beam" yourself into the shower by and step off the pad and behind the transporter curtain, although technology today can't give you a sonic shower as is used on the Enterprise (give it a few years, and maybe it will be invented, although I'm betting that a regular water shower will always feel more refreshing).
A couple reviews of this curtain / mat set comment that the bath mat is very small, so keep that in mind. It's only a little over 2 feet in diameter. But it coordinates well with the shower curtain! (See the image with the cat for a better sense of scale. The image is also from ThinkGeek, along with the image above).
Even if you don't want to have this curtain and mat in your bathroom all of the time, it would be great to have on hand for a Star Trek themed party. Halloween would also be a great time to have these in use!
Some of you might be big enough ST fans to want this in your bathroom all of the time. In that case, you may also be interested in checking out other Star Trek Theme Items for Bathroom and Bedroom for Federation-designed towels, bathrobes, pajamas, and slippers (choose from gold command, blue science, and red engineering / security designs).
If you prefer brighter, bolder colors than what this shower curtain shows, there's a similar Transporter Room Shower Curtain on CafePress that I bet you'll like even more.
Neither curtain is particularly cheap, in my opinion, but that's not the reason you'd get either of these, now is it? You'd buy it because of your enthusiasm for this well-loved and long-lived science fiction franchise, or you'd buy it as a gift for someone else who's a fan.
